SELFIEforTEACHERS launch & ‘Digital Schools Awards’ to first 5 Slovenian schools on World Teachers’ Day, 5 October 2021

A new self-reflection online tool to support teachers to further develop their digital competence is launching on World Teachers’ Day. SELFIEforTEACHERS has been designed by the European Commission working with experts from across Europe. The tool gives primary and secondary teachers an opportunity to reflect on how they are using digital tools and technologies, get feedback and tips on next steps and plan for further training and support.

The European launch event is taking place on 5 October 2021 in cooperation with the Slovenian Presidency of the European Union (event page). The event brings together teachers who have tested the tool and students who will share their views on how they see technology as part of their learning experience.

The official presentation will start with an official launch of the SELFIEforTEACHERS self-reflection tool by the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth and the Slovenian Minister or the Secretary of State for Education, Science and Sport, together with teachers. Once launched, the tool will be available in all official EU languages.
This will be followed by a panel discussion where European teachers, teacher educators, student teachers, school leaders and representatives of Ministries of Education will share their views and experiences with the Selfie for Teachers tool. European pupils and students will also join the discussion on the impact of digital technology on learning.

The second part of the event will be dedicated to the presentation of the A-SELFIE project, Digital Schools Awards Program Pilot (co-funded by the Erasmus+ program), which is in its second year of implementation in Slovenia. Afterwards, the ‘Digital School Awards ‘ will be presented. Awards will be presented to the first five schools of the pilot project that have demonstrated quality and excellence in the field of digitization of education through the process and the submitted application.
